Depending on the style, this wire becomes a name, a word, or an initial letter. Personalized bracelets: the families
The Original Personalized Bracelet is the atelier's signature piece, the one that started it all. Its hand-shaped wire holds a lowercase word. The art of precious wire
Every letter is hand-shaped from a single gold or silver wire.
The metal is cold work-hardened to hold its shape, then reinforced with laser micro-welding at the tension points. Atelier Paulin has been hand-shaping in Paris since 2014.
How many letters, and on which style?
Two personalization modes coexist, and the choice isn't random — it depends on the style. The custom-shaped word, on the Original Bracelet or the Richelieu Bracelet, follows a maximum letter count specific to each piece, entirely in lowercase, except for the "J," which is hand-shaped as a capital when it opens the word. Accents and apostrophes are not shaped, but a space can be added upon request.
The other mode is the initial: one or several letters referencing one or several names, as on the Initial Chain Bracelet. Some styles reverse the lettering logic: the Capital Initial Cord Bracelet, for instance, is hand-shaped entirely in capitals, like every style carrying "Capital" in its name. Symbols remain possible, but only upon request.

14k gold-filled, 18k gold, or sterling silver?
Three materials make up this collection, and each suits a different purpose. 14k gold-filled — a solid layer of gold bonded to a base metal — contains 50 to 100 times more gold than traditional gold plating and comes in yellow and rose, never in white. 18k gold is a solid gold wire composed of 75% pure gold, the gold of French jewelry tradition. Sterling silver contains 92.5% pure silver, in a bright white tone. Hypoallergenic and antibacterial, it suits sensitive skin. Wearing and caring for a hand-shaped piece
Care differs depending on the material. 14k gold-filled requires no special care — a soft cloth is enough — and it isn't affected by water: showers, pools, and the beach all remain possible, unlike traditional gold plating. The only precaution, to preserve the delicacy of the hand-shaped wire, is to remove it during intense physical activity. 18k gold follows the same simple approach, with a wash in lukewarm water and a mild soap.
Sterling silver, by contrast, is a living metal: a thin layer of oxidation can appear on contact with air or moisture, a natural and reversible phenomenon that never affects its quality. Unlike gold-filled pieces, it's best to avoid pools, showers, and sports while wearing silver. A gentle clean with lukewarm, soapy water and a soft cloth is enough to restore its shine.
After the wire is shaped, each piece is work-hardened as a whole, never letter by letter: this cold-working process gives the metal its memory of form. At tension points, laser micro-welding reinforces the structure, without ever replacing the principle of a single, continuous hand-shaped wire. This is precisely what sets this craftsmanship apart from a process where a pattern is carved into a flat surface: here, nothing is added after the fact — everything starts from the wire itself.
Since 2014, Atelier Paulin has hand-shaped every one of its bracelets in Paris, with manufacturing times that vary by material: 1 to 3 business days for sterling silver and 14k gold-filled, 2 to 5 business days for 18k gold, before shipping.
