Personalized rings

The number of letters that can be hand-shaped depends on the model chosen — there's no single rule across the whole collection. On the Original Personalized Ring, the hand-shaped word holds up to five letters, formed from a single continuous strand of precious wire, work-hardened across the entire piece once shaping is complete — never letter by letter. On the Original Initial Ring, one or more initials make up the piece, each referencing a first name. On the Capital Initial Ring, a single capital letter is enough, hand-shaped in uppercase.

Ring sizes range from US 4.5 to 10.5 (EU 48 to 62), covering most finger sizes. Symbols are possible upon request — just specify at checkout.

Shaping time should not be confused with delivery time. Hand-shaping takes 1 to 3 business days for sterling silver and 14k gold-filled, and 2 to 5 business days for 18k gold — this is the time spent in the atelier, before any shipping. Home delivery is added on top, typically 2 to 5 days. In Paris, two options are available: in-person personalization at the atelier, done in about thirty minutes, or same-day courier delivery.

A ring hand-shaped to order, with the word or initial chosen by the customer, cannot be exchanged or refunded. A non-personalized model, on the other hand, can be refunded or exchanged. 14k gold-filled wire is a solid layer of 14k gold bonded to a base metal core. It contains 50 to 100 times more gold than traditional gold plating, giving it the properties of genuine 14k gold wire. It comes in yellow and rose, never in white.

18k gold is a solid gold wire made of 75% pure gold — the gold associated with traditional French goldsmithing. Every 18k gold ring is hallmarked, certified, and hand-shaped by one of the Maison's artisan jewelers. This material comes in yellow, rose, and white, allowing both the Original Personalized Ring and the Capital Initial Ring to be shaped in all three tones.

Sterling silver contains 92.5% pure silver, for a minimum fineness of 925. Its bright, luminous white color makes it a hypoallergenic and antibacterial choice, well suited to sensitive skin. It's a living material that can develop a fine, natural, reversible patina on contact with air or moisture — without affecting the quality of the piece.

The choice of material mostly comes down to how the ring will be worn. For a ring worn every day without a second thought, 14k gold-filled and 18k gold hold up to water without restriction. For a bright white piece at a more accessible price point, sterling silver remains a solid choice, as long as pools and showers are avoided. 14k gold-filled requires no special care. A soft cloth from time to time is enough, and it isn't afraid of water — showers, pools, and the beach are all fine, unlike classic gold plating. The one precaution, to preserve the delicacy of the hand-shaped wire: remove it during intense physical activity or repeated handling. Its lifespan is measured in decades.

18k gold asks for no more care than that: warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth are enough to keep its shine.

Sterling silver, a living material, is cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Unlike 14k gold-filled, it's best to avoid pools, showers, and sports while wearing a silver ring, to limit the natural patina that can form.

Since 2014, Atelier Paulin has hand-shaped these rings in Paris from a single strand of precious metal wire, reinforced with laser micro-welding at points of tension — where engraving simply carves a pattern into a flat surface. Each ring is then presented in a jewelry box.
