No mold, no duplication: at Atelier Paulin, gold wire is handcrafted, gesture after gesture, until your word takes form. Laser micro-welding reinforces it, then barrel work-hardening strengthens the metal and gives it its shape memory. It holds its line, year after year, like the bond it carries.

In the Original family, the one it all began with, the Richelieu is recognized by its yellow 14k gold-filled wire, handcrafted by hand with pliers, no molds, by artisans trained for months before their first piece of jewelry. The word or name reads in cursive, lowercase except for the "J" in capital when it opens the word, with no accents or apostrophes. This same wire also comes in rose 14k gold-filled, as well as in a solid version, in yellow, white, or rose 18k gold: a difference that comes down to the amount of gold actually present, with gold-filled forming an envelope of 585 gold over a base metal, while 18k gold is a solid wire, hallmarked and certified. This difference in material also shows up in the warranty: 1 year for gold-filled, whose shine remains guaranteed for life, versus 10 years for the solid versions.
How to choose your Personalized Richelieu Necklace
Up to 10 letters can make up the word or name handcrafted by hand, or one or several initials if you prefer to mark several names on the same 45 cm chain. Accents, apostrophes, and special characters are not handcrafted, but a space can be added on request; an Arabic, Hebrew, or Cyrillic alphabet, or another language, remains possible, with the studio reviewing the request. For skin exposed to water or sports, white 18k gold does not oxidize and can be considered in place of yellow 14k gold-filled, with all our materials otherwise being hypoallergenic. Handcrafting this word takes about 30 minutes, a gesture you can also watch being done on site, at the Paris atelier.
Who it's for, and for which occasion
Designed for a woman, this personalized necklace is among the atelier's most requested pieces and makes a fitting gift for a birthday as much as for a birth, or to celebrate Mother's Day. It marks the birth of a child especially well, carrying the newborn's name on the necklace of the woman who is becoming a mother, to speak of this new bond. Each piece comes in an individual case; when ordering, an Atelier Paulin bag and a printed card with the customer's message can be added for €2. If the recipient's size or name remain uncertain, the gift card, from €50 to €1,500, leaves it up to the person receiving it to choose their piece, material, and size.
