Each Personalized Richelieu Bracelet begins as a single rose 18k gold wire, hand-shaped with pliers, letter by letter, never cast in a mold — a gesture artisans spend months mastering before shaping their first piece. Next comes work-hardening: once the shaping is complete, the entire piece is cold-worked to give the wire its shape memory and resilience. Shaping takes about 30 minutes, the same time it takes to have a personalization made on the spot, at the atelier. The raw materials used are recycled and recyclable, and like every material at the Maison, this bracelet is hypoallergenic. It carries a 10-year guarantee against manufacturing or material defects, the guarantee specific to 18k gold.
How to choose your Personalized Richelieu Bracelet
Choosing your Personalized Richelieu Bracelet means picking between two ways to personalize it, up to 10 letters: a hand-shaped word or name in cursive, or one or more initials standing for one or more names. Lettering is lowercase cursive throughout, except for the letter "J," which is shaped as a capital when it opens a word; a single script style is offered for the hand-shaped word. Accents and apostrophes cannot be shaped, though spaces can be added on request, and another alphabet (Arabic, Hebrew, Cyrillic) or another language can be considered by the atelier on request. This design is also available in yellow 18k gold, yellow 14k gold-filled, rose 14k gold-filled, or white 18k gold: the 18k gold versions carry the same 10-year guarantee — a solid gold wire, hallmarked, that holds a value proportional to the gold it contains — while the gold-filled versions, a solid 14k gold layer over a base metal core, carry a 1-year guarantee, with a lifetime guarantee on the gold's shine. For hands often in water or for intense sports activity, white 18k gold, which does not oxidize, can be worth considering.
