The Initial Chain Bracelet stands apart first for its material: a solid 18k yellow gold wire, hand-shaped with pliers, no casting or molding involved, by artisans trained for months before shaping their first piece. This hand-shaping takes place entirely in Paris, in the Atelier founded in 2014. Each bracelet then receives laser micro-welding reinforcement at tension points, followed by work-hardening across the entire piece, after the shaping is complete, never letter by letter: this cold-working process is what gives the wire its shape memory and resilience. Finally, this piece carries a 10-year warranty from the date of purchase, specific to 18k gold, which retains value proportional to the amount of gold it contains.
How to choose your Initial Chain Bracelet
The choice starts with personalization: this bracelet can be hand-shaped with one or more initials, standing for one or more names, in lowercase script — except for the letter "J," hand-shaped as a capital at the start of a word, with no accents or apostrophes. Another alphabet (Arabic, Hebrew, Cyrillic) or another language can be considered on request, as can symbols such as a number, a heart, or an infinity sign. Next comes sizing, for a woman or a child, set on a chain and worn fitted at the wrist. A one-size adjustment remains possible, assessed case by case depending on the lettering and the style, free of charge unless additional 18k gold is required. The hand-shaping takes about 30 minutes, and can also be done at the Atelier in front of the client.
Who it's for, and for which occasion
All of the Maison's materials, including this 18k yellow gold, are hypoallergenic, recycled and recyclable, and certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council. For someone whose hands are often in water or who is very active, 18k white gold, which does not oxidize, can be chosen instead within this same style, also available in 18k rose gold — each carrying a 10-year warranty from the date of purchase. For anyone unsure of the recipient's size or name, the Atelier Paulin gift card, from €50 to €1,500, lets the recipient choose their own piece, material, and size; a note can be slipped into the package simply by requesting it in the order comments, and the price never appears inside, since the invoice is sent by email to the buyer only.
