Lettering Rules: What We Can and Cannot Shape

Because every letter is hand-shaped from a single wire rather than printed, there are real constraints worth knowing before you order — and we'd rather explain them clearly than have you guess.

We work in one lettering style only: cursive. There is no block, capital, or architectural alternative — the flowing script is what our artisans are trained to shape, and it's what gives the wire its continuous, connected look. Letters are shaped entirely in lowercase, with one exception: a 'J' at the start of a word is shaped as a capital.

Accented characters (é, è, à, ü) and special characters cannot be shaped in wire — the technique doesn't accommodate them, so a name should be entered without accents. Apostrophes are also not shaped. If you'd like a space between two words, that can be added on request during ordering. Symbols such as a small heart or star are possible on request as well, so it's worth asking rather than assuming they're excluded.

Production takes 1 to 3 business days for sterling silver and gold-filled wire, and 2 to 5 business days for 18k solid gold, before the piece ships via DHL Express.
