Ten years on 18k gold, one year on gold-filled and silver; the shine of gold-filled is guaranteed for life. Every order ships in its box.
Our guaranteesThe 14k gold-filled wire passes through the artisan's hand before becoming a bracelet, necklace, ring, or earring. This collection brings together the pieces hand-shaped in this material: from the Original Personalized Bracelet, the atelier's iconic piece, to the Original Personalized Ring, along with hoops, brooches, and message necklaces. Each piece is hand-shaped in Paris, with no mold.
Yellow 14k Gold-Filled: What It Is, and What It Changes
14k gold-filled, also known by that legal term in English-language fine jewelry, refers to a solid layer of 585/1000 gold bonded by heat or pressure onto a brass or bronze base. This technique holds 50 to 100 times more gold than traditional gold plating, giving it the same properties as solid 14k gold wire. Gold-filled comes only in yellow and rose — never in white.
In practice, this means a color that stays stable over time and a water resistance that classic gold plating doesn't have. Shower, pool, beach: gold-filled jewelry handles them all, except during intense physical activity or repeated handling, when it's best to take it off to protect the delicacy of the hand-shaped forms. Its lifespan is measured in decades.
The shaping process itself forms the precious wire by hand, with pliers, from a single length: the letter is born from the wire itself, never carved into a surface. Once the word or initial is shaped, the entire piece undergoes work-hardening, a cold-forming process that gives it its shape memory. At points of tension, laser micro-welding reinforces the piece without ever weakening the wire.
Gold-Filled, Gold-Plated, and Vermeil: The Differences
Three materials often get mixed up in customers' minds: gold-plated, vermeil, and gold-filled. Gold plating deposits a thin layer of gold onto a base metal, so thin it fades over time and is sensitive to water. Vermeil coats 925 sterling silver with a layer of gold — an appealing compromise, but more fragile against repeated friction. 14k gold-filled, with its significantly thicker gold layer, outlasts both in durability, while remaining more accessible than solid 18k gold.
For those seeking a deeper gold tone and a solid wire, 18k gold comes in yellow, rose, and white: each piece is then hallmarked, certified, and hand-shaped by one of the Maison's jewelry artisans. At the other end of the range, 925 sterling silver — an alloy of 92.5% pure silver — is hypoallergenic and antibacterial, suited to sensitive skin and to those who prefer a bright white shine. The Sterling Silver collection lets you compare the look before choosing.
Models Crafted in This Material
Yellow gold-filled appears across the full range of the atelier's personalized jewelry. For the wrist, the Richelieu Personalized Bracelet and the Nude Pure Bracelet offer a hand-shaped word, while the Hammered O Bracelet and the Bramble Bracelet lean on worked shapes with no lettering. Around the neck, the Original Personalized Mantra Necklace holds a short phrase or up to five names, while the Richelieu Personalized Necklace carries a name or word of up to ten letters.
For initial personalization, the Original Initial Necklace carries one or more letters, each standing for a name chosen by the customer. Lettering on hand-shaped words stays entirely lowercase, except for a capital "J" at the start of a word, with no accents or apostrophes, and the option to add spaces on request. The Capital and Capital Initial models, by contrast, are written in capital letters throughout.
For the ears, the Éos Mini Hoops Earrings and the Corsica Mini Stud Earring offer the material without personalization, alongside charm pieces like the Trio Corsica Charms Bracelet. For rings, available from size 48 to 62, the Original Personalized Ring takes a word of up to five letters, while the Original Initial Ring is limited to one or more initials. For the full range, also explore a personalized name necklace or bracelet across the collection, and browse our gold and silver personalized bracelets.
Care and Warranty
Gold-filled jewelry needs no special care: an occasional soft cloth is enough to keep its shine. It isn't afraid of water, unlike gold plating, and can go through showers, pools, and beach days. The one precaution: take it off during intense physical activity or repeated handling, to protect the delicacy of the hand-shaped wire.
14k gold-filled jewelry is warranted for one year from the date of purchase, against manufacturing or material defects, and its shine is guaranteed for life; 18k gold jewelry, meanwhile, is warranted for ten years. A non-personalized piece can be refunded or exchanged, while a piece hand-shaped to order with a word or initial chosen by the customer cannot be exchanged or refunded. Every piece of jewelry leaves the atelier in its own box.
